“My name is Mark Scott. I am a local businessman, and have been a Sacramento resident since 1963. I currently own a 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible, that I purchased in March 2007. In the one year I have owned this beautiful collector car, Gearhead Garage has been my “one stop shop” for all of my maintenance and restoration needs. As any serious collector car hobbyist knows, it is extremely hard to find a competent and reliable shop that specializes in this line of work. I have put Gearhead Garage to the test, and time and again they have met or exceeded my expectations.
The professional staff at Gearhead has performed the following on my car: 1) diagnosed a “flat cam” that was not broken in properly and replaced it with a hydraulic “roller” cam & lifters (along with appropriate springs, retainers, timing chain and push rods) 2) Installed a reproduction “Rally gauge cluster” (including a repo factory tach) 3) Diagnosed and fixed a nagging coolant leak (cracked timing cover) 4) Installed a front disk brake conversion kit 5) Installed upper and lower Edelbrock “boxed” rear control arms and polyurethane bushings throughout. 5) Completely rebuilt all front end suspension and steering (inner and outer tie rod ends, drag link, upper and lower control arm bushings and ball joints) 6) Installed all factory reproduction “Ram Air” components to make the stock Pontiac cold air induction system functional 7) Replaced a defective and leaking convertible top hydraulic ram and related plumbing, and many other small but important jobs to keep my “pride and joy” in top form.

“In January of 2005 I started looking for a hot rod to drive. I located a 67 Camaro in Illinois. It was presented as a really good car with almost flawless quality. When we got it, I was amazed at how much of a piece of junk it was. Right off the bat it needed at least 10k worth of upgrades to make it road worthy.
The search was on to find a shop that was capable of doing the work. I ran into someone in the business and he told me there was a shop that was putting together some nice cars and that they really knew the Camaro, so I decided to give them a look and spoke to Jason Walroth, the owner of Gearhead Garage in Sacramento, California.
Jason and his crew told me everything I wanted and needed to hear. The word from other Camaro owners in his area was VERY positive. We came up with a game plan to do the engine, tranny and wheels and tires and of course brakes. It has since been taken to a whole new level.
Almost a year later, together with Gearhead Garage, I've built a custom car from the ground up. The car is nearing the finished product and I can't be more pleased. I was lucky in finding Jason, and Mike and the guys who have worked on the car now known as "Sledge Hammer" on the internet. The car has been featured in magazines and at some car shows. There are things on the car that you have never seen or heard of, but this car has a combination of improvements and one offs that will truly make this a custom car.
I gave the guys complete freedom in what to do with the car, and they didn't disappoint, and in fact they have made me really happy. The ability to visit the garage and for them to send me ongoing photos of the car as it progresses through the build is critical and I thank Jason and Mike for the dedication and answering the phone bouncing off crazy ideas off each other's heads and for them to put these ideas into the build of this car. I got lucky finding them, but now you have my experience in knowing that if you hire them to do your car, that you will not only get first class craftsmanship, but you will also find friends ready to go the extra mile in building a car. You just don't find that kind of combination in a shop nowadays.”

“I have had my 67 Camaro for many years before trying to start a frame off restoration. My parents bought my Camaro off the showroom floor, and had kept it until 1981 when I turned 16 and they handed me the keys. After going thru a few motors, and other things, in 1992 I decided to start a frame off restoration. Well the years past by and the work pilled up, until in 2006 I decided I was over my head, and needed to have a shop finish the car for me.
I had looked in to a couple of shops, including Gearhead Garage. I had been referred to them by Mike Bassi, who at the time was having his car worked on by Jason and his crew. I called Gearhead and talked with Jason and his crew a couple of times, they were enthusiastic about working on my car, and answering all my questions. So I went and met them, and discussed my project. They took the time to talk with me, ask me some questions, and answered some questions. They said whenever you’re ready, let us know. At that time I never had made any commitment to them, but they spent time with me as if I was a paying customer. The great thing with Gearhead is it is a complete shop, doing all aspects of the build. You are not having to do any coordination, taking it to different places, none of that. That is a one stop shop.
So a few months later, I tell them I am ready, and make an appointment to bring my car up on a trailer. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I was forced to cancel that time, and again Jason said we are on your schedule, just let us know when. A few months later I was able to bring the car to Gearhead, and it’s been such a pleasure to work with Jason and all his crew. Jason takes the time to talk with me, about the car, budget, needed parts, and any other questions I may have, enough if he doesn’t have the time. True customer service. He and his whole crew have treated me not just as a customer but a friend, inviting me to come see the progress at any time. They even have taken the time to talk with my wife about aspects of the build, and my whole family when it was time to see the paint. There is not a better shop out there that gives any better support, and service.
Jason, Jonathan, Mert, Shawn, Eddie, Mike, and Robyn have been such a pleasure to have working on my car. I do not have any questions concerning their commitment to getting my car done, or their workmanship, all is top notch. This was evident when I saw may car sitting in their display booth at the 2008 Sac. Autorama. The car was gorgeous, and breathtaking. I never imagined my car would be able to sit inside the Sac. Autorama, but based on Gearheads work, it definitely belonged inside with the other show cars.
